NEW SEPTIC SYSTEM INSTALLATION
AC Septic Service is your El Dorado & Amador Counties expert at building your new septic system, from engineering to installation. Whether new construction or replacing a failed system, we provide, professional, honest, cost effective recommendations – working with you, the homeowner, to find the septic solution that makes sense for your unique property.
There are countless types and sizes of septic systems, but they generally are classified under 1 of 3 types – Standard Gravity, Pressure Distribution and Advanced Treatment systems. Which system makes sense for you comes down to a lot of different variables like size of property, slope, soil composition, budget and of course, state and county permitting requirements.
STANDARD GRAVITY SEPTIC SYSTEMS
As you would imagine, Standard Gravity Septic systems allow gravity to take waste to a septic tank where natural bacteria breaks down waste before being gravity fed into a series of underground trenches called a leaching field or drainfield. While often the most cost effective solution, basic gravity systems require the leaching field to be at a lower elevation than the septic tank and require the bottom of the leaching field trenches to be at least 3 feet above any restrictive layer such as hardpan or bedrock.
Generally, pressure distribution systems work fairly similar to gravity fed systems, with the addition of pressure (via a pump or siphon) to help expel liquid waste through piping to force it to spread over a larger area. This often becomes necessary if property slope or soil composition constraints don’t allow for a traditional gravity system.
ADVANCED TREATMENT SEPTIC SYSTEMS
Advanced Treatmentt systems are most often used when soil depths on a property don’t allow traditional systems. Advanced Treatmentt systems come in many shapes, sizes and designs but effectively add the function of cleaning waste water before it is expelled into the ground – often in tandem with a pressure distributed leaching field. Some of the most common types are sand filtered systems, sand mound systems and Aerobic Treatment systems.
